All Aboard!
Train Songs
Part 1

The Friday Night Cat Fight focuses on one of the most popular song themes, TRAIN SONGS! This week’s show is only part one of a multi-part series on TRAIN SONGS and features great tunes from Johnny Cash, The Cardinals, Tom Waits, Rufus Thomas, Al Green and many more.
We also trace the history of the rock n’ roll classic, “The Train Kept A-Rollin’,” which was written by and originally recorded by Tiny Bradshaw in 1951. Tiny’s up against some of the greatest guitar solos in history as The Johnny Burnette Rock n’ Roll Trio (guitar: Paul Burlison), The Yardbirds (guitar: Jeff Beck) and Aerosmith (guitar: Joe Perry) all have a crack at it.
Listen to the show and then choose your favorite version below.

“Whole Lotta Love”
The Evolution

It’s no surprise that Led Zeppelin found a lot of inspiration in American blues. This week’s Friday Night Cat Fight traces the history and evolution of one of Led Zep’s biggest hits, “Whole Lotta Love” back to its roots in Muddy Waters. Sure, Willie Dixon wrote the lyrics, but could Robert Plant have sung it the way he did without the vocal inspiration of Steve Marriott and The Small Faces? These three versions compete this week, so listen to the podcast and vote below on the one you DIG THE MOST! The show is rounded off with an instrumental from King Curtis, a funked up version by Tina Turner and even a doo wop rendition of this rock n’ roll milestone.

Over this podcast you’ll hear the greatest baseball songs ever recorded highlighting the game’s top players and teams. My team vignettes include The Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, St. Louis Browns and more. The show also features some of the great historical baseball moments of the past 100 years.
Then, near the end of the program, I’ll ask you to vote for your favorite version of “Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball.” Dig the show and then vote below.
May your team go all the way this year!

Mardi Gras In New Orleans

This week’s Friday Night Cat Fight takes us down to The Big Easy for a New Orleans themed Cat Fight Show. The battle royale this week is between two natives of New Orleans doing slightly different versions of the same song. We begin with “Jock-A-Mo” from Sugar Boy Crawford & His Cane Cutters from 1953. It’s up against The Dixie Cups classic top 20 hit from 1965, “Iko Iko”. Only you can decide who will take the Mardi Gras Friday Night Cat Fight. Grab a hurricane and dig, baby, dig. Where ya at?
