Each week, several cats battle it out over the same song. I ask you to listen to the audio file below, which contains a themed music program and concludes with several versions of the same song by many different artists. Listen to both versions in their entirety before deciding which one you TRULY DIG THE MOST! Then vote below and see how your fellow Cat Fighters voted. That's the Friday Night Cat Fight from MattTheCat.com.
Here is the third and final show dedicated to the theme of “train songs”. This week’s show features tunes by James Carr, Gladys Knight & The Pips and Leadbelly. It is also your chance to vote for your favorite version of the classic “Night Train.” So dig the show, vote and don’t miss that train, baby!
The Friday Night Cat Fight continues its focus on Train Songs this week, as we feature part 2 of our 3 part musical journey on “Trains”. Hop a freight with the Delmore Brothers or just dig with The Box Tops, Louis Jordan, Johnny Cash and many more.
This week, 2 hep cats battle it out over the classic Sun Records’ side, “Mystery Train”. Listen to the program and decide for yourself who is “king” of the “Mystery Train”.
The Friday Night Cat Fight focuses on one of the most popular song themes, TRAIN SONGS! This week’s show is only part one of a multi-part series on TRAIN SONGS and features great tunes from Johnny Cash, The Cardinals, Tom Waits, Rufus Thomas, Al Green and many more.
We also trace the history of the rock n’ roll classic, “The Train Kept A-Rollin’,” which was written by and originally recorded by Tiny Bradshaw in 1951. Tiny’s up against some of the greatest guitar solos in history as The Johnny Burnette Rock n’ Roll Trio (guitar: Paul Burlison), The Yardbirds (guitar: Jeff Beck) and Aerosmith (guitar: Joe Perry) all have a crack at it.
Listen to the show and then choose your favorite version below.
With April Fool’s Day this coming Wednesday, The Friday Night Cat Fight features songs about “FOOLS” this week. Now, we’ve all been fooled from time to time. Sometimes we “play the fool” and other times we “Pity The Fool”. All these fools add up to just one thing; a battle of the fools over the song, “What Kind Of Fool Do You Think I Am”. Listen to the complete program and then vote for the version of the song that you truly DIG THE MOST. Vote below and don’t get fooled again, baby!
We’re celebrating the beginning of a new season with this week’s Friday Night Cat Fight. The theme this week is “Spring”. Since this season brings that rain that makes the flowers grow, this week’s Cat Fight will be over the song “Walking In The Rain.” Listen to the podcast, which contains both versions of the song and then vote below for the one you dig the most.
This week’s Friday Night Cat Fight Show takes on the “bad luck” of Friday, The 13th and matches up against the “luck of the Irish” just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. We begin the podcast with a few tunes about bad luck and move into some great tunes about good luck. Then, we take the traditional Irish classic, “Danny Boy” and put the amazing voice of Patti LaBelle up against “Mr. Excitement”, Jackie Wilson.
Listen to this week’s Friday Night Cat Fight and then vote for the one you DIG THE MOST, below. Good luck!
Congratulations to Amos Milburn who won last week’s Cat Fight with over 50% of the vote. He defeated both Chuck Berry AND The Rolling Stones over the song, “Down The Road Apiece.”

Friday Night Cat Fight EXTENDED to Half Hour Show!
This is a big week for the Friday Night Cat Fight. First off, congratulations to The Five Keys, who won the past five consecutive Cat Fights and are now inducted into the MattTheCat.com “Alley Of Fame”. Now that they are in the “Alley”, they can no longer compete in a future Cat Fight.
This week, we have 2 firsts on The Friday Night Cat Fight. For the first time, 3 cats will compete for your vote in a Cat Fight 3-Way! AND, the segment has now been extended to 30 plus minutes of music, which all revolves around a theme. Since tonight’s Cat Fight is “Down The Road Apiece”, I’ve chosen “ROADS” as our theme. Dig on the music and vote for the version of “Down The Road Apiece” that you truly DIG THE MOST. Let me know what you think of the new format in the “comments” section after you vote. Enjoy!

Which One Do You DIG The Most? - "The Glory Of Love" Pt. 2
The Five Keys have once again emerged victorious. Last week they beat Buddy Knox and this week, they’ll try to make it a whopping FOUR weeks in a row. If they can win FIVE in a row, then they’ll be inducted into the very prestigiousAlley Of Fame on mattthecat.com. BUT, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, The Keys must first get past this week’s competition, Sunny & The Sunglows. Listen, dig and vote!
The Friday Night Cat Fight began in 2002 on Matt The Cat's "Night Prowl Show" on XM Radio as a one-off, fun feature. The idea was to put the Crew-Cuts cover of "Sh-Boom" up against The Chords original version. The response was so overwhelming, that the Friday Night Cat Fight became a weekly feature on "The Night Prowl Show". When the program ended its run on XM in October of 2008, Matt The Cat decided it should continue on the web. The voting never closes on the web, so tell everyone you know to drop by and voice their choice for the version of the song that they truly DIG THE MOST!
