This week’s Friday Night Cat Fight takes us down to The Big Easy for a New Orleans themed Cat Fight Show. The battle royale this week is between two natives of New Orleans doing slightly different versions of the same song. We begin with “Jock-A-Mo” from Sugar Boy Crawford & His Cane Cutters from 1953. It’s up against The Dixie Cups classic top 20 hit from 1965, “Iko Iko”. Only you can decide who will take the Mardi Gras Friday Night Cat Fight. Grab a hurricane and dig, baby, dig. Where ya at?

Man…..This New Orleans stuff is knocking my socks off. Feels like old tymes. Thanks Matt.
Wayta go, Dixie Cups, and as always, wayta go, Furry Leader! Sure hope the daily or weekly show becomes a reality! Would pay the 10 in a heartbeat!
I can and would do $10 a month for a few weekly hours of MTC, but $20 would be harder no matter whether it was a regular MTC show or Harlem type show. I think $20 a month will be a harder sell competitively in these times when most everybody is examining discretionary spending tightly, and when $20 a month will get people a lot of content on a lot of web radio services.
Matt, you should be aware of this looming issue if you’re not already:

…and I forgot to thank Our Furry Leader for the awesome Mardi Gras show. I loved it! Great mix of familiar and new-to-me, including Dave Bartholomew’s ‘Shrimp & Gumbo’. Scratch on!
I agree with David that $20 would be a hard cell in these tough economic times and when other sites offer a variety of good music, some of them even free. However, a dynamic personality that you would bring to a show would be difficult, if not impossible, to beat at any price, and well worth at least $10, and I’m sure more for those interested in Harlem too. Perhaps offering a choice would be feasible–$20 for those who would like to subscribe to the show including Harlem, and $10 for anyone whom Harlem would not interest.
Hey MTC: I know I would pay the $20 a month, but I realize that Dave and Lori are probably right with regard to many listeners. If the choice of plans which Lori suggests is feasible, that might be the way to go; if not, maybe you can ask the listeners to respond to one more question in the next “Night Prowl”, namely, whether they would really enjoy a “Harlem” show if it didn’t cost anything more. If they do, you could set aside a time in one of the weekly shows where you could do a “Harlem” as part of that show. Best of both worlds? Maybe. Great job on the New Orleans cat fight show, by the way. Thanks for everything.
Awesome! Awesome show, Mr. Matt. You captured the sound of this past weekend…well, you missed the sound of vomit hitting the toilet water, toilet rim, bathroom floor, and the cat…but aside from that, you nailed it!
[…] Rodgers and Hart wrote “My Funny Valentine” for their 1937 musical, “Babes In Arms” and over the years it has become a true classic. So many great versions of this song exist, but for the sake of sanity, I have chosen 4 to compete in this week’s Cat Fight. Please listen to all four in their entirety and then vote for the one you DIG THE MOST! Happy Valentine’s Day and enjoy Mardi Gras. Hi Matt, I miss West coast Wednesdays the most !! East Coast crooners and southern rockabilly were a guaranteed hit. Sure do wish you could do the old Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday specialty programs again. By comparison no other has the background knowledge and enthusiasm. That pretty much says it for all your programs!!
MTTC keep on prowlin’
Wonderful, loved the FNCF and the podcast! Thanks Matt!
Hey Matt love these shows but I need a billing address to electronically support this.
So send the address and keep the shows coming. I’m still missing the XM harlem shows. Al
