This week’s show contains a massive FOUR-WAY Cat Fight over the tune, “I’m Gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town.” In contention will be Louis Jordan’s original 1941 version vs. Billy Ward & The Dominoes fantastic 1954 version feature Jackie Wilson on lead, Mel Torme’s tribute to Count Basie with his rendition and finally Ray Charles’ great Quincy Jones’ arrangement from 1961. Please listen to all four versions before voting for the ONE you DIG the MOST!
Also on this week’s program, some forgotten cowboy songs, Roy Orbison’s humble beginning and the history of “Ooby Dooby” with interview snippets from Roy himself and his old buddy Sonny Burgess, Guitar Slim on Atco and a whole lot more!

Has to be Ray…..Nobody beats Ray.
Can’t wait to hear you on Rock-it!!
New York Daily News and Rockitradio in one week, good going Matt. Billy Ward and the Dominos got my vote this week; Jackie Wilson is one of my favorites. The whole show was sensational. Thank you so much for supplying us with such good music. Happy Easter Everybody.
Im not Doggin Around to be profound im going with Jackie Wilson fronting for Billy Ward and his Dominoes !! Rock it Radio just got alot better with you Matt and now i will say to all you loyalists out there Matt The Cat Rules !! Yum Yum
I went into this one thinking “Why even listen it’s gotta be Billie Ward and the Dominoes with Jackie Wilson” I love Jackie Wilson. I came out of it voting for the Velvet Fog. The song sounds spectacular all dressed up and taken uptown. Ya, O.K. so Mel was thinking he wanted to move to one of those rich neighborhoods on the outskirts of town, but that’s O.K., he comes across as being sincere.
Congrats on the shout out Matt!
You said it Matt, The amazing Jackie Wilson, he is fantastic.
I joined Rock-it-Radio yesterday because of you Furry Leader, keep up the good work.
Thanks!
The Lady,Patty Anne, movin’ out of town
prefers Louis Jordan.
We know the Ladies are always right
don’t we Matt.
Your musical knowledge is tremendous
and appreciated
I don’t think there’s a bad version of this song. Makes picking one sooo hard.
In the end, I had to take Billy Ward w/ Jackie Wilson. My wife in the other room picked Louis Jordan, but she didn’t get to vote..heh heh.
