Wednesday Night:
The Night Prowl Show
Brenda Lee turned 61 on Sunday. We honor that little pint of dynomite in typical Night Prowl fashion.
Big Mama Thorton was born on 12/11 back in 1926 and we cats n’ kittens have got to pay respect to one of the greatest R&B; singers of all time.
Sam Cooke is shot to death on 12/11 back in 1964 and we’ll look back with the help of author Peter Guralnick who has just written a book about Sam Cooke entitled “Dream Boogie”.
Connie Francis turned 67 on Monday. We’ll do a little somethin’ special for one of the cutest voices of ’50s and ’60s rock n’ roll.
All This and your requests & dedications, Wednesday Night on the Night Prowl Show.
This week HARLEM dedicates an entire hour to those women of rhythm and blues that changed the world. Their names are legendary and so is their music. You’ll hear Ruth Brown, Ann Cole, LaVern Baker, Sister Wynona Carr, Big Mama Thorton and Hadda Brooks, just to name a few. These women mean business and they’re gonna show Matt The Cat a thing or two about livin’, lovin’ and drinkin’. Watch out.
