matt its great to hear the nitty gritty harlem sounds.im 60 and remember jockos rocket ship as if it was yesterday. although white irish the sound of black soul,just overwelmed me .i spent all my time and money in pursuit of its majic feelin.we had a group,and would hang with the groups in jamacia n.y.we were trying to get the soulful doo-wapp harmony,chasing the echo so to speak.it was atime when the music transended the gap between the blacks & whites, something that todays rap crap is destroying. i used to frequient the brooklyn paramount where whites were in the minority and the only trouble was between the white gangs!the music fed my soul then and it still does now i was a n.y.city firefighter in harlem during the martin luther king riotes and saw its devestation and hate kill the real heart of the comunity, its music of soul!i was no longer able to walk freely on its streets and enjoy listening to the great great sounds played in places like the red rooser or the bell cook & candle unless i was with a group of blk firemen even then,it was very touchy.soo much hate in the younger people!i was just another honky toscrew with. maybe the old music can at least keep the good people who share a love for the same old days together im sorry to say ,i doubt it please keep on keepin on,we need all the soulful sounds we can get now! be cool, the greaser,
